The Aurum Cantus V6Fs have the ability to dissapear from your ear-view - they move an orchestra to your living room instead and let you bathe in an expanding and transparent soundstage. After listening to the V6Fs you'll find yourself revigorated and renewed. At the 3kEUR the happy owner acquires twice as much sound.
Function and form
I would recommend to any loudspeaker manufacturer to get a training at Aurum Cantus to see what is meant by a "cabinet". Next to the Aurum Cantus most other speakers look like being assembled from IKEA parts. I also liked the finish - the clear lacquer is flawless, deep and shiny, and polished in 14 separate layers. I remember my experience from Munich High End show, where many piano lacquered speakers were betrayed by the light coming from skylights - reflections of the light on their cabinets showed a many imperfections. This will never happen with the Aurum Cantus speaker. There is no trace of joints on V6F, neor from outside neither from inside. The speakers are fanatically precisely assembled.
Not only are the speaker's walls 52mm thick (!), the cabinet is further stiffened by four massive horizontal braces. Everything is sprayed by antiresonant paint and as dead as a marble tomb. Aurum Cantus uses Teflon insulated cables inside, the connection points are soldered. Bi-wirable speaker binding posts are reasonably spaced so it is possible to connect anything imaginable.
Bass management
If one counts in the room support then the lowest point that can be heard from the V6Fs is around 30Hz. The reflex ports are firing to the rear of speakers and the bass strength can be regulated by the proximity of the rear wall. Still, the V6Fs play like full-range speakers so I advise to give them a listen first if you plan to use them in a small room. Quite opposite, I auditioned the V6Fs in a 100m2 room and they could pressurize it with ease. The dynamic and monumental music material, like Hans Zimmer's The Dark Knight soundtrack, is amazing - one needs safety belts on his chair not to be swept by detonations through the Aurum Cantus speakers. And they are revealing too - the tympanis rolling on the synthesized background were delineated as much as they could be.
Clarity & delicacy
The most important feature of the V6Fs is the ribbon tweeter. The V6Fs use vaporized aluminum ribbons. The ribbons have some undeniable assets, like they are lightweight (4x lighter than conventional domes) and therefore extremely fast in their start-stop movement. This behaviour very beneficial to to small animals that live in music, the tranzients. Good ribbons eliminate the parasitic oscillations of conventional membranes and sounds are reproduced with much sharper tranzient edge.
The ribbons are also more sensitive and they can easily extend to high frequencies - the V6Fs reach to 40kHz, which is supertweeter domain. That is maybe why the Aurum Cantus have the speed, detail and air in ample amounts and never fatiguing.
Tonal accuracy
Spatial resolution
The obssession of Aurum Cantus with building acoustically inert enclosures resulted into very stable imaging and powerful sound that is not dependant on position of a volume knob. Very often small speakers lose control over sound when pushed hard - not here, whatever listening levels I applied the sound remained to be tonally correct, liquid, detailed and imaging was like carved into stone.
